Sweet, cooling, and heavy, this rich smoothie will rejuvenate the body during times of high stress. The heavy, sweet qualities nourish an exhausted nervous system if you have been burning the candle at both ends. It will support the rebuild of deficient tissues—especially the blood—as it is a rich source of iron. Its cooling properties can also help cool excessive internal heat and soothe an overheated or inflamed digestive system.
Servings 4

- Hazelnut milk recommended
Directions
1. Use fresh figs or overnight rehydrated dried figs.
2. Blend all ingredients, except hazelnuts, until smooth and creamy.
3. Serve and sprinkle with crushed hazelnuts.
Dried fruit can lead to dry, rough, hard bowel motions. However, rehydrated figs and fresh figs are renowned colon tonics and stimulate peristalsis, promoting a regular bowel movement. This smoothie will pacify Vata and Pitta but may aggravate Kapha. For those with weak, sluggish digestion, add a digestive stimulant like 1/2 tsp black pepper or ground ginger.
