From putting oneself in another’s shoes to acting upon that kind and understanding thought, we can each make a positive difference—even a tiny, yet significant one—to another person’s day, or even life!
It was a scorching hot day outside when Lilibeth Gallo, who was sitting inside an air-conditioned restaurant, spotted a traffic officer, who looked to be in his 50s or 60s, working outside.
Still having this goddess beauty at the age of 21. 💞😘📸: Prince 👶🏻
The man must have been exhausted, because he had to take a break by sitting on the edge of the gutter.
Upon seeing this, “I couldn’t avoid shedding tears,” Gallo, a freelance model in Quezon City, the Philippines, wrote of her experience in Filipino on Facebook.
She assumed he was most likely thirsty and wondered if he had even eaten breakfast at all.
The heat must have been too much, as, soon enough, the traffic officer, wearing a Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) vest, walked into the very same fast-food chain Gallo was in. Concerned for the man’s well-being, Gallo thought the least she could do was buy him a meal.
Without hesitating, or waiting for another second, Gallo jumped up to order the man a meal and a drink.
When the order was ready, she made her way over to the elderly man.
“This is for you,” Gallo told the man, placing his meal before him. “Have some breakfast.”
“But I didn’t order anything,” he responded. “I don’t have any money.”
“It’s okay. I bought it for you,” Gallo said. “I hope you like it,” she added, speaking about the meal.
Before Gallo returned to her seat to finish off her own meal, she noticed the officer was quite touched.
He suddenly smiled and his eyes filled with tears. He then proceeded to dig into the meal he had been given. It seemed to her that he was quite hungry.
When it was time for Gallo to leave the restaurant, the very grateful man smiled and waved goodbye to her.
She shared on Facebook that he could have been her own father. She of course would not want her father, or any other person of that age, to go hungry, especially while on the job like that, out in the harsh elements.
Gallo adds that it’s sometimes the simplest things we take for granted, like the much-needed meal the exhausted officer was given.
No doubt that feeling of gratefulness will stay with him. Should he have told his family what happened to him that day, they too would be most grateful for the young woman’s generosity.
The sympathy and respect she showed him was genuine kindness, and the incident was justly lauded by social media users.
Another Kind Act
A similar incident occurred around the same time in the Philippines. This time, the kindness came from a crew member who didn’t let his busy workload stop him from helping an old man.
Instead of ignoring the man, the worker instead went out of his way to help him. The incident was captured and then shared on social media, where it quickly went viral.
One day, an elderly man wandered into a fast food chain, looking disoriented, according to Pilipino Scoop. The man looked sickly and most likely disabled, according to the netizen who saw the event.
Even before the elderly man found a place to sit down, a male fast food crew member immediately approached him. He greeted the man like an old friend, carried his heavy bags for him, and made sure the elderly man had a place to sit.
At this point, several customers started noticing the disabled man. Their interest grew as they saw the fast food crew member approach the disabled man with food and then proceed to feed him.
Despite being in the middle of his shift, this worker found time to go out of his way to lend a hand to this disabled customer.
It’s a good reminder for us all how no matter how busy we might be that there is always time to help those in need.
