High school prom is considered a milestone celebratory tradition for many students, and taking photos with friends and family is a must to remember this special occasion. But not everyone is that fortunate if their loved ones were killed in the line of duty.

As Sierra Bradway gets ready for prom, she thinks of her father, Rod Bradway, an Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer, who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 20, 2013, while responding to a domestic violence disturbance. He was shot six times.

Sierra wanted to pay her respects to her father by taking her prom photos to his grave. She planned for three people to be there: the photographer, her date, and herself.

When the mother of her date, Brock Spayd, heard of her plans, she secretly arranged something special. Brock’s mother is a captain in the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. She called up officers from the Indianapolis Police Department and other regional departments to help make Sierra’s prom more special, Fox News reported.

Upon arriving at the cemetery, two police officers on horseback greeted Sierra and Brock, while a dozen police officers had lined up and were waiting for her. The big family took photos with the teens.

“There were a lot of laughs, some tears, but more importantly, there was love,” the Indianapolis Police said in a video posted on their Facebook.

“Sierra, we know your father is smiling from heaven. Know that your Blue Line Family will always be here for you,” the video ended in a touching message for Sierra.
