HONG KONG—The penultimate race of the Hebe Haven Typhoon Series (Race 8), an island race, was held on Sunday Aug 14 with almost 50 boats taking part even without counting the IRC-A fleet.

Although IRC-A boats did race it seems that there is a protest between two of the leading boats so the results are not yet available.

With 8 races now completed 2 discards can now be taken into account, but result in few changes in the overall positions.

Race 8

In IRC-B “Lighthorse” took line honours and 1st place, followed by “Sell Side Dream”, and “Blue Bunny”. Series leader “Seawolf” was relegated to 4th place. In the 1st half of the series it looked like “Seahorse” would run away with the title, but recent less good results have now put this in doubt. “Seawolf” is still leading the series with 9 points net, but is just 1 point ahead of “Sell Side Dream” (10 points) and “Lighthorse” is lying 3rd on 15 points.

IN IRC-C the series leaders “Dexter II” and “Ked Kite II” again finished ahead. “Lady Butterfly” came 3rd. “Red Kite II” now leads the series in this category with 7 points net, “Dexter II” is on 9 points and “Gambit” is 3rd with 19 points.

“Merlin” continued her winning ways in the Sportsboats category with “Ricochet” 2nd and newcomer GP 26 “Havoc” 3rd. Series bronze contender, “Good Vibrations” took 4th place. “Merlin” lying on 6 points net is 7 points ahead of 2nd place contender “Ricochet” on 13 point, “Catch 22” is in 3rd place on 19 points. This looks like it will be the final series order as “Good Vibrations” is 4th on 29 points.

“Jive”, “Bumphad” and Jazz was the order for J80’s. There is no change in the series standings with “Jive” leading on 8 points, “Bumphead” is 2nd with 12 points and “Jazz” is 3rd on 17 points.

In HKPN-A, “Bits & Pieces” came home first but finished way down the order in last spot on corrected time. “Scintilla” came 1st, “No One Else” took 2nd place and “Temujin” was 3rd. but “Bits & Pieces” still has an 8 point lead in the series over “Temujin” and “No One Else” who are both on 21 points. “Pepper & Salt” and “Scintilla” are a further 4 points adrift on 25 points.
