The man in this video demonstrates just how important it can be to know resuscitation techniques. He saved the life of a toddler at the beach who appeared lifeless.

On Sept. 23, 2018, at Mayahayay Beach Argao, Cebu, in the Philippines, a 4-year-old toddler was pulled lifeless from the water.

Joseph Falcone, 32, from the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) was at the scene, and he immediately began to perform CPR on the boy as locals and tourists gathered around.

As Falcone did chest compressions, water and food would spew from the little boy’s mouth.

Falcone continued on and was able to bring the boy back to life. Bystanders can be heard clapping and cheering in the video after witnessing Falcone’s amazing act.

The boy was then given oxygen and taken for medical assessment. He is believed to be recovering in a hospital, according to the Manila Bulletin.

A video taken at the time of the rescue was posted on Argao Skimboarding Association’s official Facebook page. After two weeks, the video had received more than 6.7 million views.

Reflecting on the incident, Falcone admits that he was panicking a bit and made the incorrect number of chest compressions. Nevertheless, he did manage to save the boy’s life after all—and that is what counts the most.

After watching this video, it is a good reminder for people to learn CPR. You never know if you’ll encounter a situation that calls for it.
