GTA V PC: ‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ PC Pre-Orders Allegedly Begin Friday, Claims Report

January 30, 2014 Updated: July 18, 2015

The “Grand Theft Auto V” PC version pre-orders are expected to start Friday in some areas, according to a report.

A Scandinavian retailer, Elgiganten–known as the Dixons Retail group in the U.K.–is slated to launch preorders for the game Friday, Jan. 31, reported Game Reactor.

The preorder development was confirmed to the website by a manager of one of the Swedish stores.

Rockstar has not confirmed the existence of a PC version of “GTA V,” even though the game generated well over $1 billion in sales for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 last year when it was released.

But there’s been more and more evidence as of late indicating that the PC version of the game is on its way. PC Gamer last week reported that a 150-page-long bug log was leaked online showing there’s a PC version with DirectX 11 effects. More than 170 references to PC development bugs were made.

Last week Amazon France and Amazon Germany posted product listings of the PC version of “GTA V.” The game will be selling for 59.99 euros.

It’s also unclear if and when the game will come out for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Last year, EuroGamer reported that a PC version of the game will come in early 2014.

“[PC] gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin’s Creed 4,” Chris Evenden, who is Nvidia’s senior director of investor relations, said during a conference call in August, according to the website.

Several weeks ago, an executive for Brazilian retailer Nuveem said the game would be released March 12. “I see no problem talking. I think until now been confirmed. Is scheduled for March on PC, if I’m not mistaken, for the 12th,” Thiago Diniz, the executive, told Brazilian website Codigo Fonte.

A petition to bring “GTA V” to the PC has drawn more than 650,000 signatures.

“GTA V” is currently available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
