The dogs rescued from the California “House of Horrors” house have been adopted.

The two Maltese mixes are both one-year-old and female.
While the 13 siblings discovered at the squalid house in Perris, east of Los Angeles, were in poor condition, the dogs appeared to be healthy, according to the city.

Senior Animal Control Officer Christina Avila said the dogs were healthy, friendly, and leash-trained.

The dogs were owned by David and Louise Turpin, who were charged with child abuse and torture in January after officers found their 13 children malnourished and some in chains.

The new owners of the dogs have requested anonymity.

They were the winners of a raffle.

“We are pleased to know the two dogs will go to a home where they will be well treated and loved,” city spokesman Joe Vargo told the Mercury News.

The city also announced recently that the GoFundMe set up for the 13 siblings raised almost $40,000.

“The community response has been fantastic,” said Mayor Michael Vargas in a statement. “It shows that Perris is a caring community.”

The siblings, ranging from ages 2 to 29, have been split into two groups as adoption requests for them have been piling up.

The ones who are legally children were sent to a foster home, while the group which is legally adults was shuttled to an assisted living facility.

Due to the years of torture, officials said, many of the kids are suffering from mental problems.

It’s unclear when the final decision about their adoptions will be made.
