A culinary trail now links nine of Kentucky’s state parks, offering a food-focused take on the region. Guests are welcome to pick up a Culinary Passport at any Kentucky state park; try a regional meal; get their passport stamped; and redeem the passport, with all nine stamps, via mail for a gift.
Entrees at the different state parks vary, from barbecued mutton to Kentucky Hot Brown, an open-faced sandwich with turkey and bacon covered with Mornay sauce.
At Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, in Calvert City, for example, the featured meal is white beans with ham hock; local surf and turf; a side of Silver Queen corn and Kentucky Wonder green beans; banana pudding; and a local craft bourbon cocktail. The park is also home to the largest marina in the Kentucky state park system.
