A Missouri boy’s honest letter to his mom explaining why he couldn’t go to school has caught the attention of the internet after his sister posted her the old note from 2017 on Twitter.
In a post on June 4, Sarah Holliday said her younger brother, Adam, had missed the bus a few years ago and decided to justify his actions by writing his mother a note that was titled “I missed the bus,” reported Fox 8.
“As your son, I regret to inform you that I’ve missed my means of public transportation,” the letter written on a piece of ruled notebook paper began. “I know you must be on a rollercoaster of emotions right now but rest assured, I’ve stayed home.”
He then explains that his decision to stay home was a tough one and even made a pros and cons list to accompany his explanation.
“I’m probably in my bed moping about the fact that I can’t go to school, so please don’t interrupt me. If you require any further assistance, please see the pros/cons list,” he wrote.
In the pros list, the boy wrote: “first day home this quarter, grades will be fine” and also wrote, “today was gonna be a bad one, can’t get over my hair.”
Meanwhile, in the cons list, he admitted that him staying at home from school “might become a habit” but added that he was “doubtful.” He also reminded his mother to “call the school and tell them I’ve got polio.”
In just three days, Holliday’s post received almost 1 million likes and over 212,000 retweets.
Many people on social media commented that they enjoyed reading the letter and said his cheeky comments made their day.
“That definitely deserved a day off if not just for the pro/con list. We shall call it ‘creative writing and statistics’ home school,” one person wrote.
