Boba Fett ‘Star Wars’ Movie Could be in Works: ‘Metalocalypse’ Director Says

A Boba Fett spinoff “Star Wars” movie could be in the making, it was reported.

“Metalocalypse” director Joe Schnepp revealed the spinoff, and he claimed it will be written by Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote “The Empire Strikes Back” and “The Return of the Jedi.”

“One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan,” Schnepp said told AMC.

Sources also told Entertainment Weekly that a Boba Fett film is possibly the way.

The Boba Fett film “would take place either between ‘A New Hope’ and ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ or between ‘Empire’ and ‘Jedi,’ where the bounty hunter was last seen plunging unceremoniously into a sarlacc pit. Exactly who would play him isn’t much of a complication – in the original trilogy, he never took off his helmet. And in the prequels, we learned he was the son of the original stormtrooper clone, played by Temuera Morrison, who’s still the right age for the part if his services were required,” writes EW’s Anthony Breznican.

The new “Star Wars” trilogy will be directed by J.J. Abrams and will start with “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

Kasdan told the Los Angeles Times that he doesn’t want to write a “Star Wars” movie in the trilogy but wants a fresh start.

“I’m trying to start fresh. There are certain pleasures that we think the saga can bring to people that they’ve been missing, and we’re hoping to bring them that, and at the same time, have them feel that it’s all new,” he said. “The ones I worked on were a long time ago, and they had a slightly different feeling than the ones that followed. The first three, Star Wars, Empire and Return of the Jedi, are all sort of more about people than the ones that followed.”

Boba Fett first appeared in “The Empire Strikes Back” and the mysterious bounty hunter has remained a fan-favorite ever since.

There have also been rumors of a Han Solo standalone film, NME said. The Solo film would be set in between “Return Of The Sith” and “A New Hope.”
