Speed TV and its Internet site Speed.com will offer full flag-to-flag coverage of the 50th Anniversary Grand Am Rolex 24 at Daytona this weekend, starting at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28.

Speed TV will air an hour pre-race show and then devote another 7.5 hours to uninterrupted live coverage before taking the show to the Web, where it will broadcast the overnight hours. Coverage returns to TV at 9 a.m. Sunday with another seven uninterrupted hours.

The Rolex, which first ran as a three-hour race1962, grew to international prominence by the late ’60, when the famous factory teams came to contest the strenuous test of endurance.

Though the race lost prominence in the ’90s and is no longer on the calendar of the major international series, it is still the longest top-tier race in North America. Fifty-eight cars in two classes will take the green flag Saturday afternoon, driven by stars from a number of other series, including NASCAR, IndyCar, and the American Le Mans Series.
