Three-time Grammy-winning band Radiohead has announced additional dates to their 2012 touring schedule. The band, together since 1985, will kick off the U.S. leg of their tour in Florida in late February, ending up in Arizona mid-March.
There’s a visible gap in the touring schedule, as the new dates announced aren’t until July in Rome. The overseas leg continues across Europe and includes stops in Italy—in the cities of Florence, Bologna, and Udine—and in Berlin.
According to the band’s website, they are “very excited to be announcing these [dates],” and say to “keep an eye out for more updates.” The band is touring in support of their eighth studio release, The King of Limbs.
According to NME.com, band member Ed O’Brien has indicated that the band’s live set will be largely drawn from the new album, as opposed to the “greatest hits” set they played on their last world tour.
Spanning 30 years and 40 songs, R.E.M. Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982–2011 was released on Nov. 15. Although the band has released a handful of “best-of” albums in the past, this seems to be the quintessential one.
Hot on the heels of the band’s breakup in September, the two-disc set flows chronologically starting with “Gardening at Night” from their 1982 EP “Chronic Town” and winding down with three tracks from this year’s Collapse into Now release.
The collection also offers three new tracks, “We All Go Back to Where We Belong,” “A Month of Saturdays,” and “Hallelujah.” The deluxe version of the retrospective is available via iTunes and includes videos for about a third of the material.
In only her 10th studio album in over 30 years, English singer-songwriter Kate Bush releases 50 Words for Snow just in time for the holidays, on Nov. 21. The seven-song, wintery themed album features all new material and has special guests Elton John, British actor Stephen Fry, and her own son Albert (“Bertie”) assisting on vocals.
While snow is the backdrop, the subject matter runs from love and ghosts, to snowmen and even a yeti encounter. The album comes on the heels of her summer release Directors Cut, an album featuring 11 remixes of her classics from the albums The Sensual World and The Red Shoes.
Legendary musician and founding member of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, will tie the knot with longtime girlfriend and filmmaker Laurie Durning. According to the New York Post, the two will wed before Waters hits the road in January for “The Wall” Live tour in Perth, Australia. The two have been engaged for seven years.
When the Post asked Durning about the nuptials, she said she’d only have family and close friends at a “private and low-key” ceremony. “The Wall” Live tour is a continuation of the worldwide tour that started in September of 2010.
